Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 islands, some 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia. The islands are a part of the state of Kedah, which is adjacent to the Thai border.


Temperature rarely fluctuates throughout the year. Langkawi is very warm and humid with temperatures ranging from 25c to 35c. Humidity is high. Rain tends to occur between April to May and October to November.


Bahasa Malaysia is the official language, but English is widely spoken and understood.
