From the beginning, AMAWaterways’ goal was to create a river cruise company that they themselves would enjoy. To AMAWaterways, that meant the highest-quality, locally sourced food and wine; elegantly appointed ships with staterooms offering maximum views to enjoy the ever-changing countryside; and a crew who goes above and beyond, treating every guest like they are part of OUR family.
With that in mind, they have been building one-of-a-kind ships with added comforts and conveniences ranging from our revolutionary twin balconies with both a French balcony and an outside balcony to the one-and-only Chef’s Table specialty restaurant. In 2019, they continue to innovate with three new ships, including the extraordinary AmaMagna—a distinctive evolution of our exceptional European river cruise fleet, offering the ultimate in luxury with even more space and more choices while sailing the legendary Danube.

What is included on AmaWaterways?
What beverages are included on board? Europe: Sparkling wine and juices at breakfast; beer, soft drinks and unlimited wines at lunch and dinner (new selections daily); a Sip & Sail cocktail hour with complimentary wine, beer and spirits; plus, gourmet coffee, tea and bottled water 24/7.
Is AmaWaterways all inclusive?
The cruises are all-inclusive: meals, unlimited local wine, beer and soda, specialty coffees, as well as most daily guided tours. … The destinations served by AmaWaterways Cruises: AmaWaterways’ ships are like floating five-star hotels that cruise the rivers of Europe, Russia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Africa.
What are AmaWaterway’s most popular activities?
The destinations visited are the main draw for cruises on an Ama sailing, and passengers take advantage of shore excursions that range from Gentle to Active Walker groups; there’s even a concentrated Late Starter option for people who want to sleep in but still see key tour highlights. In Europe there are also guided bicycle and hiking tours in some cities along the way.
While sailing, wine tastings and lectures draw a crowd, and when nothing is on the schedule, cruisers are just as happy to relax on deck or in the lounge and watch the scenery go by or read. Some afternoons local cultural groups come onboard to perform and share their heritage.
AmaWaterways has found that many of its passengers want active pursuits onboard, so the line established a wellness program onboard. Passengers do relax in the lounges, but they also show up for stretch sessions, yoga, cardio/core strengthening, resistance band workouts and circuit training.
There are quite a few reasons to be in your stateroom, too; the line’s Entertainment-On-Demand system not only provides high-speed internet access but also movies, music and English language TV stations.
On our programs in Europe & Southeast Asia, children under the age of 4 years old are not permitted onboard and children 4-7 years old are not recommended. On our Africa program, due to safety precautions, there is a minimum age limit of 12 years old, unless otherwise agreed upon by AmaWaterways.

What’s Not Included In The Upfront Price?
Below is a description of the things that are not included in the upfront cost of the cruise:
The cost of airfare is not included in the upfront price of the cruise, but is almost always available for an additional charge. We’ll ask you where you are flying from and quote you the cruise line’s price or the best available price.
Alcoholic Beverages & Some Non-Alcoholic Beverages
Alcoholic beverages are not included in your cruise price, and since soft drinks come over the bar there is charge for them as well. Specialty coffees are also almost always additional. However, Some of our luxury cruises lines may include this feature.
Your personal service staff works hard for you while you’re enjoying your cruise, so please tip them before you disembark. Most cruise lines make it easy for you by automatically adding gratuities to your shipboard account, which is usually about $10 to 12 per person, per day. This amount covers your cabin steward and the waiters and assistants who have served you all over the ship.
Some Dining Options
Alternative dining options are all the rage onboard contemporary ships these days and the cruise lines have a couple of different ways of charging you extra for them. For all restaurants other than the main dining room you should expect to find that reservations are required. There is a fee for that reservation that usually runs from $10-$40 per person and the gratuity for the meal may be additional.
Shore excursions are a very important part of your experience in each port of call, especially if you’ve decided to take the adventure route.
Your ‘welcome aboard’ photo is your first encounter with the ubiquitous ship photographers. They’ll be on hand to capture all the fun and excitement, and then sell it back to you for $20 for each 5 x 7.
Spa Treatments & Salon Services
Arrangements with onboard spas and salons has become one of the hottest new things with the cruise lines in the past few years as passengers are focusing more and more on their well-being.
