Guests of the homey and inviting Elewana Lewa Safari Camp spend dreamy nights in one of 11 en suite tents or 2 family safari tented suites, each with a thatched roof, veranda and bathroom in the “Lewa” style. Gathering spots include a vibrant, bird-filled garden, sunny veranda, swimming pool, fireplace lounge and communal dining room.
Lewa Safari Camp offers a welcoming ambience in which to relax and savor the magic of the savannah. Amenities include world-class cuisine, free WiFi in all public areas and rooms, a gift shop, massage and spa treatments, laundry service, 24-hour power and in-tent charging facilities, purified drinking water free of charge and more. The camp is in a low populated environment at an altitude of higher than 4,000 feet, so it is considered malaria-free.
Perhaps one of the most captivating characteristics of Elewana Lewa Safari Camp is its setting in a UNESCO World Heritage Site, bringing with it the opportunity to view both black and white rhino, the endangered Grevy’s zebra and a host of other species. Guests may set out for wildlife viewing on game drives, on horseback or camelback, or in 4×4 vehicles. Day trips may include visits to community villages and schools, or to Ngare Ndare Forest where one can swim in clear blue spring waters, and to a nearby archaeological site, rich in tools used by prehistoric man. Children are kept entertained with swimming, guided “bush” walks, visits to meet the local anti-poaching “sniffer” dogs, school visits and horse- and camel-riding for older children.
Each day delights, with lavish bush breakfasts, picnic lunches and sundowners – the perfect time to gather and share visions of what another day of adventure may bring. Meal times are flexible and there is individual dining. World-class cuisine is accompanied by a premium wine list. Individual dietary requests can be satisfied with advance notice; a children’s menu is available.
Lewa Main Airstrip is a one-hour flight from Wilson Airport and a 40-minute drive from the camp. The camp coordinates are N0°15’06” E37°23’14”, and it sits in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.
