Elewana Serengeti Pioneer Camp
Elewana Serengeti Pioneer Camp sits in an enviably secluded location overlooking the Moru Kopjes in central Southern Serengeti, a prime spot for viewing the wildebeest migration for much of the year; for viewing the Moru Kopjes with their prehistoric paintings and musical rocks; and Lake Magadi and its hundreds of resident flamingos.
Recognizing the value of time well spent with family and friends, the Elewana Collection introduces discerning travelers to East Africa through impeccably designed lodges that invite true relaxation, as well as the thrill of a real adventure. Complementing their locations in prime game-viewing areas, on quiet white-sand beaches or even in a coffee plantation, are lavish comforts, including fresh cotton sheets, elegant rooms and gourmet meals. Family-friendly, individually styled and exuding warm and personalized hospitality, the lodges are a savvy blend of high-class safari and low-impact tourism. Guests are encouraged to become part of the local community and conservation projects, thereby returning home with a piece of East Africa instilled in their hearts forever.

Elewana Serengeti Pioneer Camp was designed to have minimal impact on its environment, and to that end, the 11 en suite safari tents and 1 family safari tent (with two en suite bedrooms and a shared veranda) have the feel of a 1930’s mobile safari camp, while still offering modern amenities. Tastefully outfitted in Campaign-style décor, the tents offer steaming hot solar-powered showers and a personal room attendant to look after every need.
The camp is completely solar-powered with a backup generator, and the tents have 24-hour power for lighting. Charging facilities and WiFi service are available in the main area. Mineral water is provided during meals and in rooms, free of charge, and guests are provided with refillable bottles. A central bar and lounge afford the most spectacular views (and wonderful sundowners). Laundry service is available, as well as a children’s menu, swimming pool and gift shop.
Perched on its own kopje in a secluded area of the Serengeti, the lodge offers a unique vantage point for the calving of more than 400,000 wildebeest each year between January and March. Shared game drives take place in custom 4×4 vehicles and can include private bush picnics. Additional diversions include balloon safaris, visiting the geological phenomenon of the Moru Kopjes and the big cats that frequent the area, and marveling at flamingos at Lake Magadi. Children may embark on their own guided camp nature walks, learn the ways of the Masai and their stories and play animal safari bingo while out on game drives.
Dining is arranged on an individual basis and is always flexible. Breakfast is served from an à la carte menu, while lunch and dinner feature a table d’hôte menu complemented by a premium wine list. Game drives include picnic breakfasts and lunches, and bush lunches may be arranged at a scenic viewpoint with advanced booking. A children’s menu is available.
Elewana Serengeti Pioneer Camp is located in the Southern Central Serengeti, close to Moru Kopjes and Lake Magadi. The Seronera Airstrip is a 50-minute drive from the lodge and a one-hour flight from Arusha Airport. The lodge coordinates are S 2°39’32” E 34°44’57”.
