    Hotel Overview
Hermitage Bay is a privately owned, luxury, all inclusive, 5-star boutique hotel on the west coast of Antigua with thirty individual suites set in beautiful tropical gardens on the beach and hillside of a stunning natural bay.

Simple, sexy and sophisticated. The resort was designed with a pared-down, honest style. A strong emphasis on sustainability means that much of the lush natural vegetation was left intact, so instead of manicured gardens, the windy paths and uneven staircases leading up the hill are flanked by riots of flamboyant bougainvillea, and the cottages are covered with purple flowering vines.

There’s a small, essentially private beach (all beaches in Antigua are public, but this one is pretty secluded) and non-motorized water sports. The small, pretty spa offers unusual “color ritual” treatments and well-taught yoga or Pilates classes several mornings a week. The food is superb, with daily changing à la carte menus (even for breakfast, where a decadent standout is french toast drizzled with Cavalier rum and honey-roasted coconut), homemade breads and ice creams, and many ingredients from the on-site organic garden. Cooking classes and garden tours are offered.

    Rooms
Of our 30 individual suites, 13 are positioned on the beach and the remaining 17 have been built on the hillside to maximize views and privacy. All suites face the sea and the views range from tropical gardens and the white-sand beach to spectacular panoramas of the bay, mangroves and distant harbor.  The suites are constructed from purpleheart, green heart and other woods from sustainably managed forests in Guyana.   The décor is one of natural luxury – pristine white linens, ivory cushions and creamy white walls soften the rich hues of the wooden floor and furniture. All rooms have outdoor showers and slatted louvre windows.

We provide you with pure and natural Aromatherapy Associates bathing and skincare products. All rooms have an iPod docking station or a smartphone USB connection, flat screen TV, DVD player, WiFi, ceiling fans and air-conditioning.

    Dining Experience
At Hermitage Bay we want to serve you delicious meals made with the best, freshest and highest quality ingredients. Our Executive Chef, Desroy Spence, and his team in the kitchen deliver a 5-star varied menu, mixing the best of Modern European cuisine with Caribbean favorites and American classics.

Menus change daily and there is always an opportunity to try something new. We use locally-sourced produce wherever possible, ensuring that we only have the freshest ingredients, as well as reducing food miles and supporting local businesses. Quite a large portion of the fruit and vegetables we use is now grown in our very own organic garden.

For dinner, the restaurant transforms into a more formal dining area with subtle lighting, candles and drapery. There is live music every night and the beat of steel drums, calypso or jazz accompanies the natural orchestra of the waves rolling onto the beach.

The resort always serve delicious meals made with the best, freshest and highest quality ingredients. Watch Kempton Mccalmont, our F&B supervisor at Hermitage Bay (and our Green Team leader), introduce you to some of our fresh food experiences that we offer.

    Wellbeing
The beautiful natural environment at Hermitage Bay lays the foundation for their guiding principles; heartfelt concern for the guests, staff and environment, healthy living, and the restoration of mind, body and soul.   The natural beauty and tranquility of the bay and gardens are healing in themselves. To further promote a sense of wellbeing, we offer luxurious organic treatments in the Garden Spa and provide regular yoga, meditation and pilates classes on the spa deck.

    What to expect:

    • Hillside cottages with stunning views (some with plunge pools) that feel like luxury tree houses
    • Inventive four-course dinners created from ingredients from the hotel garden
    • Hermitage Bay is dedicated to sustainability
    • The resort is typically a couples-only paradise for much of the year. However, children under 12 aren’t permitted (the minimum age drops to eight in July, August and most of December)
    • Plan on climbing stairs: Even if you get a golf cart ride up to a hillside cottage, you still have to navigate up or down a steep, uneven stone flight.
The all-inclusive rates don’t extend to treatments in the (very good) spa.

    Location
Hermitage Bay, Jennings New Extension, Jennings, Antigua and Barbuda

Although Antigua is a small island, and sights such as Nelson’s dockyard, Falmouth Harbour and Shirley Heights aren’t far away, most guests leave the property rarely, if at all. (That all-inclusive policy — plus the utter peace that pervades the property — can make it hard to leave.) For those who want to splurge on a memorable island tour, Caribbean Helicopters offers sightseeing and photographic jaunts over nearby Montserrat.
