Rancho La Puerta Tecate

from $0.00

North America’s first destination fitness resort and spa, founded in 1940, nestles into a mountain setting less than an hour’s ride by motor coach from San Diego. Here is room to grow…3,000 acres just for you and 125 other guests each week-space to breathe, stretch, learn, and immerse yourself in serene beauty.
After hosting health retreats all over the globe, founders Deborah and Edmond Szekely chose Tecate for its ideal climate and scenery. Climate maps showed them that this valley, barely across the border, has one of the mildest, dry and warm Mediterranean climates in the world. Today “the Ranch” is a lush nature preserve. A world-class garden landscape shelters 87 very-private guest villas, each decorated with unique and rare folk art.
The location (at 1700′) is ideal for year-round outdoor activity. A complete, well-rounded fitness program offers hiking and nature walks in mountains and meadows, yoga, Pilates, aquatic exercise, and much more. Originally known as the “School of Life,” the Ranch carries on a mind/body/spirit emphasis today in all activities, which include arts and crafts and evening learning and entertainment programs.
The elegant Spanish Colonial dining hall serves health-focused, calorie-controlled Mexican-Mediterranean cuisine direct from the spa’s organic gardens.
All guests (approximately 125 each week) arrive and depart on Saturday, which fosters a sense of community and new friendships. Rates are a true “best buy,” and the Ranch prides itself on not adding on the customary service fee of many spa-resorts. Friendly service here is truly a great tradition. Experience the beauty, the spirit, and the soul of America’s first and finest fitness resort!
